Standard sizing is an average of nobody
Most wardrobes are a set of small compromises. A bespoke piece removes them one decision at a time.
A jacket that sits well across the shoulders pulls at the waist. A dress that looked right online arrives in a colour you would never have chosen. Good clothes get worn far less than they should, because something about them was never really yours.
Sizing is an average. It is drawn for a body that doesn't exist, then corrected afterwards by someone who had no say in the pattern. That correction only goes so far.
Bespoke starts at the other end. Your measurements, your cloth, your call on the shape — so the finished garment earns years in your wardrobe instead of one season.

What we're asked to make
Where bespoke earns its keep
Some pieces are worth making properly. These are the briefs that come to us most often, written generally — your version is decided in consultation.
Occasion dressing
One piece for the day that matters — the outfit chosen first and photographed most. Colour, cut and neckline decided by you, not by what happens to be left in stock.
Tailoring
Jackets, trousers, coats and suiting cut to your measurements, with lapel, lining, pocket and button details settled during design direction.
Eveningwear
Long dresses, separates and statement pieces where the drape of the cloth decides everything. Fabric options go in front of you before a single piece is cut.
Wedding and event pieces
For the couple, the wedding party, or a guest who would rather not wear something everyone recognises. Made to one set of measurements and one brief.
Wardrobe staples, reworked
The shirt, coat or trouser you keep replacing badly. Bring us the version you love and we'll rebuild it in better cloth, cut to you.

The process
How bespoke made-to-order clothing is made, step by step
Six stages, in order. At each one there is something for you to decide and nothing committed until you say so.
Consultation
We start with what the piece is for and how you want to feel wearing it. Bring references, a garment you already love, or nothing at all. Measurements are taken carefully and the brief is written down.
Design direction
Silhouette, length, structure and detail are drawn out and agreed. You decide how closely the piece follows your reference and what gets changed. Nothing is cut until the drawing is right.
Fabric and material selection
Cloth, lining, trims and hardware go in front of you. Weight, handle and colour are yours to choose, and we'll say plainly how each one behaves once it is made up and worn.
Fittings
The garment is fitted as it takes shape, so balance, sleeve and hem are corrected on you rather than guessed at. You see each change and approve it before the maker moves on.
Production
The maker finishes the piece — construction, pressing and hand finishing, in order, with every detail agreed at design direction carried through to the last stitch.
The final piece
You take delivery of a garment cut for one person. Your measurements and notes stay on file, so a second piece starts further down the road than the first.

What clients ask before sending a bespoke brief
Frequently Asked Questions
- What should I put in the enquiry?
- Your name and email, the garment type, the occasion, your preferred style or any inspiration you've saved, a budget range in your own words, a preferred date and anything else we should know. Phone is optional. The more specific the brief, the more useful our reply will be.
- Can I work from a photo of something I've seen?
- Yes. Most briefs start with an image, a screenshot or a garment already in your wardrobe. We use it as direction — the proportions, the neckline, the way it falls — rather than copying another label's piece line for line. Design direction is where your version takes shape.
- Do you make for men and women?
- Yes. Womenswear and menswear, from tailoring and outerwear through to eveningwear and everyday staples, the same categories you'll find across our designer clothing edit.
- I don't know what to write for budget range.
- Write it plainly — a figure, a range, or the sentence that describes it. Budget shapes cloth, construction and how much hand finishing is involved, so telling us early means our reply is honest about what's possible rather than vague.
- What happens after I send the form?
- We read the brief properly and reply by email to talk it through — the garment, the occasion, the direction and what the next step looks like. Nothing is charged or committed at that stage.
- Can I still buy ready-to-wear from you?
- Of course. The shop carries designer clothing, accessories, shoes, jewellery and beauty from Australian and international labels. Bespoke sits alongside it for the pieces that need to be made rather than bought.
